چکیده
Metre-resolution airborne multispectral images have been used to estimate crop biomass in rice (Orysa sativa L.). Images were acquired at four stages of crop development; mid-tillering, flowering, panicle initiation and immediately prior to harvest. The imaging system, flown in a light aircraft, comprised four CCD video cameras; recording in the infrared, red, green and blue wavebands. Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) values extracted from the imagery were linked with detailed on-ground crop biomass measurements via regression equations. The highest R was achieved at mid tillering, where the greatest contrast between crop vegetation and background soil/water occurred. The lowest R was achieved at flowering. The potential for using the remotelyderived estimates of crop biomass in the initialisation and verification of crop growth and development models for managing mid-season nitrogen applications is also discussed.

Background and objectives: The present work aimed to evaluate the acute toxicity of Aeollanthus pubescens essential oil, whose antimicrobial activity has been proven in vitro by previous studies and to examine the effects of this essential oil on the biochemical parameters (transaminases ALT and AST, urea, creatinine and cholesterol) and hematological and histological ...

Mutant mice that express abnormalities in mast cell development represent a powerful tool for the investigation of multiple aspects of mast cell biology. In addition, the identification of the genes affected by these mutations has not only increased our knowledge about the mast cell but has opened new areas of investigation as to the role of these gene products in gastrointestinal pathology, im...
